What is International Studies?

 

International Studies is the nexus of International Relations and Area Studies. Its approach is multidisciplinary as it traverses various levels-of-analysis with a special emphasis on the big picture view of the “international.” We take interest in the complexity of histories, cultures, and discourses, as well as in the dynamism of international politics, economics, and society. We currently offer two area specializations: American Studies and Asian Studies.

 

The International Studies department of Ateneo de Davao University envisages students who are ready for an increasingly globalized yet, paradoxically, fragmented world. As such, our learning outcomes center on developing key skills in critical thinking, effective communication, global analysis, cultural literacy, and social collaboration. The program prepares students for a wide array of future job opportunities in the foreign service, international institutions, firms, government agencies, the academe, communications, and non-government organizations.
